Malta vs Spain Prediction

March 26, 2019

Looking at Malta vs Spain Prediction, Malta will host Spain in their second match in the EURO 2020 Group F qualifier on Tuesday.

Spain has never failed to beat Malta. Seven wins by scoring a total of 36 goals and conceding only three in seven meetings is evidence of Spain's superiority over Malta. Spain even forced Malta to defeat its biggest when they finished 12-1 in EURO qualifying in 1983 ago.

In their last meeting, namely in the World Cup qualifiers in 1997 , Spain defeated Malta 4-0 through goals from Juan Antonio Pizzi, Alfonzo Perez (2) and Josep Guardiola.

In his first match in Group F, Malta narrowly won 2-1 to host the Faroe Islands through goals from Kyrian Nwoko and Steve Borg's penalty. Meanwhile, Spain started with a 2-1 victory to host Norway through Rodrigo's goal and penalty captain Sergio Ramos.

Malta and Spain both won 2-1 in their first match. But Michael Mifsud and his friends won over 'weak' fellow teams, while Spain defeated one of the dark horses.

Malta must be willing to carry the status of an underdog despite playing at home. What's more, Malta must play without Andrei Agius, their most experienced defender, due to the red card in the previous match.

Spain did have to beat Norway with difficulty in the first game. But this match against Malta should be much easier for them. Even though coach Luis Enrique is also likely to give the opportunity to several coating players or debutants to show off their abilities, La Furia Roja on paper is still too strong for Malta.

Possible starting XI Malta (5-4-1): Bonello; Mbong, Borg, Zach Muscat, Caruana, Zerafa; Corbalan, Fenech, Guillaumier, Nwoko; Mifsud.

Possible starting XI Spain (4-3-3): De Gea; Gaya, Inigo Martinez, Ramos, Roberto; Saul Niguez, Rodri, Ceballos; Muniain, Jaime Mata, Rodrigo.
